Renowned British composers Christopher Gunning and Nigel Hess have earned a veritable cabinet of trophies, winning between them five Ivor Novello and four BAFTA awards for their musical contributions to film and television.
We spoke to them recently about their work and their upcoming concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra:
A Celebration of British Film Music takes place at Cadogan Hall on Thursday 14th June, 7.30pm. Gunning and Hess conduct their own memorable scores alongside music by Richard Rodney Bennett, Eric Coates, William Walton and more.
Acknowledged as one of the UK’s most prestigious orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) enjoys an international reputation for bringing audiences worldwide first-class performances and the highest possible standards of music-making across a diverse range of musical repertoire. This was the vision of the Orchestra’s flamboyant founder Sir Thomas Beecham, whose legacy is maintained today as the Orchestra thrives under the exceptional direction of its new Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Maestro Charles Dutoit.
